Maritime Washington National Heritage Area Video Project

Apr 1, 2023 | Fishboat Projects

Earlier this spring, Fishboat Media was honored to have been selected by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation to produce a series of videos showcasing the newly designated Maritime Washington National Heritage Area. The goals of our collaboration are threefold:

1. Introduce the public to this new program.

2. Communicate the vibrancy of Washington’s maritime heritage.

3. Highlight a selection of diverse communities along our shores.

From the MWNHA website:

“Spanning 3,000 miles of Washington State’s saltwater shoreline, the Maritime Washington National Heritage Area celebrates our state’s unique and diverse water-based cultures. This heritage area builds partnerships to support our coastal communities in maintaining and sharing their water-based stories and resources. The Maritime Washington National Heritage Area includes 3,000 miles of saltwater shoreline stretching north from Grays Harbor through Puget Sound to the Canadian border. Ranging from remote wilderness coasts to bustling ports and downtown skyscrapers, these dynamic shorelines connect a rich mix of communities, stories, and experiences.”

As it were, Washington’s Maritime Heritage Area happens to be our home, central to our livelihood, and an integral part of our community at large. At Fishboat Media, we feel passionate about the unique power of video as a storytelling mechanism, and we’re excited to leverage its strengths to inspire, educate, and instill a sense of pride and community in our shared Maritime Washington National Heritage Area.

Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for Behind The Scenes updates as production gets underway and be sure to give Maritime Washington a follow over at Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
