Maritime Washington – That’s a Wrap!

Oct 11, 2023 | Fishboat Media Project News, Fishboat Projects

I just finished watching a final edit that includes footage from the past six months, including at least a dozen shoot days. The shortlist includes scenes from Neah Bay to Olympia, Port Townsend to Anacortes, and a variety of figures representing Maritime Washington’s National Heritage Area.

The amount of work we’ve put into this project has suddenly struck me – we were everywhere. We started shooting in May, and wrapped our final day in late September. I am so proud of our team for the effort and sacrifices made over the summer to do this work. And the best part, we had fun nearly the whole time (except that one time…).

We feel completely fortunate and honored to share these stories. The first video being shared  – “This is Maritime Washington” describes the heritage area and features vignettes from six upcoming profile videos. We filmed with the Swinomish Tribe, the Sound Experience, Deception Pass State Park, Chelsea Farms Shellfish, Haven Boatworks, and the Washington State Ferries. Each story represents a different perspective of our shared heritage area and how we’re connected to it.

Washington state has a rich maritime heritage, going back since time immemorial and continuing through today. What brings us all together is our connection to the water and how it shapes our lives and our livelihoods. The team and I really look forward to sharing more of these videos, some of our favorite clips, and “behind the scenes” stories.
