2024 continues to be an exciting year for us here at Fishboat Media.

Building on the momentum of our recently announced project for Cascade PBS, we were beyond elated to take home an award this past Saturday at the 61st Annual Northwest Regional Emmys for our 2023 Video Campaign “This is Maritime Washington”, produced in collaboration with the Maritime Washington National Heritage Area. The series was nominated in the PSA – Single Spot or Campaign category, which honors “excellence in announcements that effectively create awareness, focus interest on or marshal support for worthy community causes or non-profit organizations.”

The annual awards, organized by Northwest Chapter of the National Academy for Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), honor disciplines of the media industry within a designated five-state region: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.

For this series, Fishboat Media navigated 3,000+ miles of Washington’s saltwater coastline, capturing seven unique stories designed to introduce the public to the program and highlight a selection of diverse communities throughout the newly designated Maritime Washington National Heritage Area (NHA).

Fishboat Media and Maritime Washington are incredibly grateful to the many individuals and organizations who shared their time and experiences to make these videos possible. Special acknowledgements go to the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, Washington State Parks, Washington State Ferries, Olympic National Park, the Sound Experience and Schooner Adventuress, Chelsea Farms, and Haven Boatworks. Conveying the wonder and majesty of our heritage area would not have been possible without their hospitality and participation.

Additional thanks to the M. J. Murdock Charitable Trust and Dr. Harrison Goodall for their generous support. Their financial contributions allowed for the production of this video series and will be instrumental in allowing individuals to learn about and experience the Maritime Washington National Heritage Area for generations to come.
